Chairperson’s Message

Welcome to the Edge of Avalon Heritage Coast located on the Southern Avalon of the Irish Loop.

The edge of avalon covers the historical and natural attractions from Portugal Cove South to Cape Race. These consist of a complex and diverse assemblage of natural and cultural assets including two primary sites–Cape Race and Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve. Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve is on Canada's official Tentative List of potential UNESCO World Heritage properties.

CAPE RACE-PCS HERITAGE INC. is a not-for-profit organization established in 1998. Our mandate is to preserve, protect, develop and promote the natural, historic and cultural resources of the area from Portugal Cove South to Cape Race, known as the Edge of Avalon Heritage Coast.

The organization has a volunteer board of directors, responsible for managing the daily operations and staffing of the Edge of Avalon Interpretive Centre, the Edge of Sea Gift Shop located in Portugal Cove South, and the Myrick Wireless Interpretation Centre at Cape Race.
