New Permanent Titanic Exhibit Unveiling at the
Myrick Wireless Interpretation Centre, Cape Race. At 12:30 PM we will
be unveiling our latest addition to the Myrick Wireless Interpretative
Centre at Cape Race - a permanent Titanic exhibit showcasing Cape
Race’s role in the rescue efforts in the hours following the
Titanic tragedy.

Remembering Titanic's Irish in Song at Bridie
Molloy's Guinness Pub and Eatery, George Street. At 8:00 PM both nights
we will have local performers honor the musical heritage of many of the
Titanic's third class passengers with Irish and Newfoundland music in a
kitchen party style event, similar to that seen in Titanic. For more

Receiving
Titanic Commemoration Events
Community Brunch at the
Portugal Cove South Community Centre. At 12:00 PM we will be hosting
brunch featuring local favorites such as pea soup, fish cakes, and
toutans with molasses and jam. Local performers will also be on hand to
provide entertainment. For more information or to purchase tickets,
call the Edge of Avalon Interpretative Centre at (709) 438-1100.
Ecumenical Service at
Holy Redeemer Church, Trepassey. From 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM a multi-denominational
service will be held to pay respect to the many people who lost their
lives in the Titanic tragedy. This component of our event is free to
the public, and all are welcome. For more information call the Edge of
Avalon Interpretative Centre at (709) 438-1100.
Supper
and Commemorative Events. At 7:00 PM in Holy Redeemer
Parish Auditorium, we will serve a mulit-course meal featuring staples
of the Cape Race menu of 1912. Admission to the meal also grants ticket
holders access to our commemorative events at Stella Maris Academy
immediately following the meal. Tickets are $79.00 + HST and can be
purchased by calling the Edge of Avalon Interpretative Centre at (709)
438-1100.
Commemorative
events at Stella Maris Academy. Starting at 8:00 PM
at Stella Maris Academy, we will be hosting a night full of
commemorative events to remember the tragedy that occur 100 years
prior. Throughout the night we will be featuring performances by Ron
Hynes, Jim Payne, and local performers, a reenactment of the receiving
of the wireless signal from the Titanic at Cape Race and communication
with ships at the Titanic's grave site, an exhibit of artifacts from
both the Titanic, as well as from James Cameron's 1996 movie Titanic,
and a brief presentation by guest speaker Fred MacLaren, with
additional events to be added in the coming weeks. Tickets are $25.00 +
HST until March 16th ($30.00 + HST after this date) and can be
purchased by calling the Edge of Avalon Interpretative Centre at (709)
438-1100.
